In order to provide a variety of network service to our customer, Chunghwa Telecom collaborate with AWS on provide AWS Direct Connection in CHT Taipei IDC.
Customer can establish private connectivity between AWS and your datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.
Chunghwa Telecom provides Dedicated connection or Hosted Connection for our customer. In addition to co-location in CHT Taipei IDC, customer can also using DCI.*1 (Data Center Inter-connection) or Chunghwa Telecom VPN Service HiLink.*2 connect to CHT Taipei IDC to apply for the AWS Direct Connection service.
*1:Customers co-location in Xinyi IDC, Neihu IDC, Zhongli IDC, RM-IDC can using DCI(Data Center Inter-connection) to connect AWS Direct Connection.*2:Customer using HiLink VPN can also connect to CHT Taipei IDC to apply for AWS Direct Connection.
Dedicated Connections
Dedicated Connections are 1G or 10G physical Ethernet ports dedicated to a single customer. Each Dedicated Connection supports 50 private or public Virtual Interfaces and 1 transit Virtual Interface. For even greater capacity, Dedicated Connections can be combined using Link Aggregation Groups. Dedicated Connections are ordered directly from AWS via the Console, CLI or API.
Hosted Connection
Hosted Connections are available in a wide range of capacities, starting at 50M up to 10G. Chunghwa Telecom will provision each Hosted Connection over a network link between the Chunghwa Telecom Device and AWS that is shared by multiple customers. Both Chunghwa Telecom and AWS will limit network traffic on each Hosted Connection to the capacity of each Hosted Connection. AWS ensures that the sum of all capacities of Hosted Connections on a network link between the AWS Direct Connect Partner and AWS is less than or equal to the capacity of that network link. A Hosted Connection will not become active until the customer accepts it via the AWS Console, CLI or API. Each Hosted Connection with a capacity less than or equal to 500M supports one private or public Virtual Interface. Each Hosted Connection with a capacity of greater than or equal to 1G supports one private, public or transit Virtual Interface.
How to establish AWS Direct Connect?
- Log in to your AWS account and apply for AWS Direct Connect. Within 72 hours, you will receive a letter of authorization (LOA) from AWS.
- Contact your network service provider to establish a dedicated network between your data center and CHT Banqiao IDC.
- CHT connects you to AWS Direct Connect points in the CHT Banqiao IDC with circuits according to the LOAs of Party A and Party B
